More Accessibility for Culture: accessify.live at the Casinotheater Winterthur

Since 2002, the Casinotheater Winterthur has been one of the leading cultural and event venues in the region. Comedy, satire, cabaret, poetry slam, improv, and music meet gastronomy and a wide variety of event formats here. With over 250 theater performances and more than 300 corporate and private events per year, as well as around 60 employees, the Casinotheater is far more than a classic stage. It is a meeting place, and these encounters should be accessible to as many people as possible. We are therefore delighted to welcome the Casinotheater Winterthur as a new partner of accessify.live.

With accessify.live, guests can receive the sound of an event in real-time via their own smartphone. Access is deliberately kept simple: scan a QR code, open the desired audio channel, and listen. No additional app or special equipment is required. People with hearing impairments can use the audio stream via their personal hearing solution and adjust the volume individually to their needs. This turns their own smartphone into a personal interface between stage sound and the guest, regardless of where their seat in the auditorium is located.

A solution only unfolds its full benefit when people also know that it is available and understand how easily it works. That's why our work doesn't end with the technical integration of accessify.live. Together with the Casinotheater team, we also support communication around the new offering. To get started, we produced a short explainer clip directly on site. The clip shows guests in a few simple steps how accessify.live works and how they can use the service on their next visit. Through the Casinotheater's various channels, the solution will thus be visible and understandable even before the actual theater visit. Our goal: not just to offer accessibility, but to actively communicate it.

Technology is an important building block. However, the interplay of the technical solution, ease of use, visibility, and communication is crucial. Because in the end, it's not about technology. It's about enabling more people to experience culture, sports, and live events as self-determinedly as possible.
